Wow. Thanks. I was hoping there would be a line in there somewhere to read the compressor duty. I'll be looking at the dew point temperature to see if that's mapping to the evaporator temps I'm seeing.

By setting the left temp to "HI" and the right setting to "LO" and then hold down "REST" and the "Charcoal Filter" button down at the same time for approx 5 seconds, I was able to see 3 error codes (toggle the error code by using the right temp setting button). Once I pushed the two round "Auto" buttons (this button also changes the air flow positions) - by doing that it reset the codes and my AC started to operate normally - I think the problem started when a radiator hose popped and an auto shop replaced it. This was in the winter so I didn't notice the light on for 3 weeks and I think they may have unplugged something and created a problem. Now one of two things will happen, this will continue to work and life goes on or the light will come on again and I will now know the problem is its not with the controller (that MB dealer told it was - $1000 repair). Now I will be able to research the error code my self and be an educated consumer.
Does anyone know where I could find the error code list?
1458 = Right Foot Well Flap Actuator
1464 = Right Center Flap Actuator
1256 = Evaporator Temp Sensor Front
I was able to get that red light out and have my AC flowing correctly, just in time for the warm temps. Thanks again for your valuable information.

On my S600, after winter storage, the red ACoff came on and could not be extinguished by cycling the button.
Of course no cooling.
Went into WIS and found AF83.40-P-2400A, which basically said that this is an un-annuncicated software error in the AC control unit.

Followed in Xentry the rather deep level instructions to delete the fault memory in the controller, and all is well again.

PS: my initial reaction would have been to add a can of R134a, but I resisted!

A/C Control Unit issue

Hello all...

Soooo...I have an 05 C230K (only 56K miles btw!) and absolutely love the car!. One thing I noticed is that when I'm driving with the climate control unit in the off (0) position, the AC light will either come on and blow cold air, or it will start blinking simultaneously as if its freaking out. My partner and I have already reset the unit a few times but it seems to keep doing it every now and then. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing it could be a faulty climate control unit and needs to be replaced or the temperature sensor just needs to be cleaned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I ask as i have been having problems with my fan motor recently, and while playing with it disconnected it from the regulator which caused the EC light to come on perminently. It was due a service anyway, so while in they simply reset this for free and its been great since.

However, like a total fool i have just done the same thing this evening Wondering if i can save myself a trip to the dealer?
i buy new regulator and did test on nlower it work fine but still no ac or heat coming out vents help

I have 2006 MB S430 4matic and I have a problem with my climate control seems like A/C is working fine but as soon as I change the temperature from low to up even if its 1 degree it starts blowing hot, I already changed the control panel didn't help

Why did you change the control panel? Did you read here or search the forums at benzworld about using the control panel to list any faults in the AC system?
Keep throwing parts at it, and you will never succeed!
