Synthetic oil, FSS and extended warranty
My wife has a 1999 C 280, and my father-in-law has a 2001 S500. They both received a letter from MBUSA explaining that MBUSA settled a class action lawsuit against MBUSA for not using synthetic oil in the earlier models which also uses flexible service system for oil change.
As part of the settlement, MBUSA is extending the warranty on the earlier model cars (I think produced before March 2001) which has Flexible Service from 50,000 miles to 150,000miles.
Has anyone received a letter like this? Does anyone know if the extended warranty covers only the engine or the entire car just like the original factory warranty?
Has anyone had problem with their engine and used this extended warranty to get his/her car serviced?

Very Interesting...
We took our 2001 S600 in last week for service B, and apparently the computer or the service advisor put to use regular oil, not synthetic.
When we saw this "error" we notified them right away and told them to use synthetic.
If anyone has more details on this, please post.
