Which wiper blades for a 2000?

I'm confused about blades after I did a search. If the 2000s had non-aero blades, can I just buy any non-aero aftermarket blade?

I want Rain-X blades, but don't know which ones to get. Just 2 28" regular blades?

It depends on if you have a pre-2000 model or after. Remember the W220 came out in 99 that is the early model. If you don't know plug your vin in that MB site that people talk about. I know on the pre its a one piece that the dealer charges $110 +/- for the pair. If you can do inserts you're a lucky man. Good luck

Then its those all in one blades I was telling you about. I don't know if you can go anywhere but the dealer. Try ebay maybe.

So no aftermarket brands? Has anyone ever tried replacing the entire arm assembly to a 01+?

According to the dealer no, but I'm sure it could be done. Find the wiper arm from an 01 online and it might retro fit. Good luck

I have an early '00 S430.

After trying aftermarket wipers, I've come to the hideous conclusion that there is not a single one out there that is acceptable. The connecting "J Hook" is much larger than normal replacement blades and the length is metric. If you get an adapter and a 26in blade; it's too short......28in is too long. I now get replacements from autohausaz.com for around $40US. They are the Bosch OEM replacements and the box they come in is printed with "Mercedes S-Class." We both seem to have the "red-headed step child" W220. Still love mine to bits, though.

Everyone seems to complain of noise from the wipers on these autos. It always seems to come from the pass. side wiper and I assume the cam actuated sweeping motion causes this squeek. Treat the windscreen to rainX and the blades with 303 regulary and you won't have that common annoyance.

Avoiding high prices for replacement blades for the W220 has been problematic in the past. The OE blades are 27" (690,mm). The newer style blades (actually, Bosch Aero Twin blades) have commanded prices of up to $150 for a pair through dealerships.

I have in the past bought a 28" blade for the driver side, and a 26" blade for the passenger - since 27" blades are hard to find.

Last week I bought a set of TRICO blades, similar in appearance to the Aero Twins - they were awful. They were flimsy and did not make good contact with the glass, leaving unswept areas. When I tried to bend them for better contact, they came apart. The Rain-X blades look sturdier, but I do not like the look of the mount; it is not as nice as the OE.

I came across this site, selling Bosch Aero Twins at a reasonable price: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...ercedes%20Benz. These blades are supposedly the OE blades, packaged differently. The site offers styles for older models as well. Best part: Two blades are significantly less than dealer prices.

Also, the site offers a pair of Bosch Aero Twin blade inserts at a very reasonable price. I also came across a video on replacing the inserts, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE1ITsXohnM.

And, in addition, my dealership has lowered its price to $66 for a blade replacement set.

Unfortunately Auto Parts Warehouse does not sell the Aero Twin inserts that it lists on its site. It does sell the inserts for the older style blades. If you order the Aero Twin insert, you will receive the older style, which are not compatible. See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ml#post3419344.

I have not found any site selling the 27" (930mm) Aero Twin inserts only.

Try inserts only

After ordering and then returning two sets of wiper blade assemblies that were supposed to fit ( including a special j-hook ANCO adapter), I finally went with new inserts on the existing arms. Less than $20 and they work perfectly. Only took about 5 minutes to install as well.
