2001 S500 stuck in park, won't turnover.
Went to work, left the car in the lot all day. Started it up at 6:30 for the trip home. Started fine but would not come out of park. Turned it off and tried to restart. Got nothing. The display lights and all other prestart lights are lit and bright. When engaging the key to turn over the engine that last quarter turn, I get nothing. So I've got a fully lit dash and that last turn of the electonic key produces nothing. The battery is two years old. The battery is the last thing I think is causing this problem. My reseach using mercedes forums points to the brake pedal sensor, but that's a guess. Is that sensor linked to the transmission, and could a faulty one be causing this particular problem. Any other suggestions or experiences? Thanks.
