Exclamation $16/mile depreciation on W220

Have been scouring the ads for a while now in pursuit of the right W220 for me and came across a 2006 S600 with 6,200 miles on it for $54,000!

IIRC the list price on an '06 S600 was around $140,000 and this one has a few extras so we'll call it $145,000. Presuming the dealer selling it paid $45,000 for it that works out to be just over $16/mile in depreciation.

I understand you don't buy these cars as investments but when you see it spelled out like that it is quite frightening!

its better not to look. Also, even for an 06, that mileage is very very low.

You don't know what the original owner paid. In late 2006 the dealers were drowing in W220s because the W221s were out. I paid $110K for a new S65 in September 2006. Dealers then were taking a bath in these cars.

Last time I checked into an MB with a crazy low price it was a badly abused salvage car.

It's un imaginable that someone would actually pay 54K for a 3 year old W220 regardless to what it costs new.. this is a car that wholesales in the high 30's which places its market value near that...

Fact is.. nobody wants them.. so they are cheap.. You can be swayed by old useless papaer values if you want but you are going to take a bath on any old body style W220 these days.. Especially the 600.

I gus its okay to have one if that's what you want but the days are gone for paying premium prices for these cars..

True, hadn't considered that. Cracking deal you got on that S65 though

I'm interested in a W220, I could get myself a W221 if I wanted but they don't do as much for me as the W220 does, and they're a hell of a lot more expensive! For me this 600 represents a near ideal vehicle; a fraction of the original cost thanks to the 221 being around yet as good as new. Probably even still smells new
