I just checked and copying these CDs is easy. Just zip up all the files from the CD and you'll get a zip file that's only 190MB for CD9 (Jul 2001). We could put that zip file on the FTP site mentioned and then someone downloads it, unzips it and burns the CD in teh normal way. Piece of cake.

Ok guys lets get the ball rolling. I have CD7 the latest edition? Does anyone have a server, etc. with fast upload and download capabilities? Maybe we should all agree to one format to make it easier for each other when we burn the CDs. Zip, Image File, etc?? Also we should probably organize them according to release date.

i would volunteer but.. i have a 45k upload

if we all had e-mule / edonkey it wouldn't really matter how fast because its just like a p2p app.

One person can share and stuff and like you know.

My mind isn't working right now so forgive me if i sound stupid.

Only other thing I can think of is something like Kazaa maybe? I have no clue? Im sure a dedicated server would be better. The server in my school only allows me 50MB so that wont work

I have a 7/00 cd for New England. Is there a place I can download? I called MBUSA and they are not offering free updates because the previous owner received an update already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can be that dedicated server but once agian, slow upload, so along the lines of Kazaa we can go use eMule/eDonkey.

P2P shouldn't help much unless many people own the same stuff and willing to share it. Anyway, make sure that it's legal, because some ISPs monitor traffic and can collect some information against you. To simplify access to file you want to share provide P2P link looking like:
ed2k://|file|My home made movies I want to share|666779760|f30327bee270129e377c269608c1fbfb|/

Currently as far as i know we aren't sharing any thing yet. But I'm pretty sure as we get going we will.

Also, your going to need some servers to connect to, don't worry, most server's are global so once your connected to one server you'll be able to accses files on a person who is connected to another server.

http://www.thedonkeynetwork.com/pl/tdn.pl

You can go there to get some server's / server.met's. .met files should be installed in the root directory where you installed eMule/eDonkey which should be C:\Program Files\eMule (or edonkey)

Also when you paste a ed2k link make sure you have it using the http:// button so it turn's it into a link like so

ed2k://|file|My home made movies I w...269608c1fbfb|/

That way its much easier to list.

My ISP doesn't frankly care that i set up server's and what not, I have had an http server up for a month now and i have had eMule running almost for half a year, or eDonkey.

2002 C-Class
07/02 is not the latest for all COMAND systems. The M-Class cd's are still 07/01. The newest version for the M-Class is a single DVD which only works with the new DVD Navigation system available in 2003 M-Classes.

Seems like Kazaa would be easiest. Can someone with the latest CD try zipping up the contents and making it available via kazaa? I'm looking for SE US (region 9 I think).

The reason i don't like Kazaa is because it'll be hard to keep track who has what files and what server they are on. If we do e-mule/e-donkey i can not only write a tutorial (because i use it almost 24/7) but we can have so many more features to use it. If i remember right the Fasttrack Network (kazaa, imesh, and all those ugly clients) were designed for files around the size of around a couple megs, while the metamachine (i think) network was designed for entire .iso's and such to be transferred, not just a couple megs, but hundreds of megs.

i have already started the compression of Comand 1 and Comand 4, i have also included a cd cover at around the resolution of 1280x1024.

thats the IP for the server i'm on, but any server will do because when you click on that Comand ** link it'll automaticlly input my IP as the first source to download from.. the more who download from me the more people get added to my source list which increases download speed.

FYI, there's no need to use the eDonkey client now. Just download OverNet, the successor to eDonkey. No more of that clumsy server adding stuff.

I'd rather not use either of those and use eMule for it's added features and stuff.

Would someone who has the region 9 (SE US) 7/02 version please post it to the server - I would very much appreciate getting an update.
