Fuel Range Display
Very resourceful forum indeed. I am a long time viewer/listener. I have a question related to the fuel range electronic display from the control panel cluster. I truly appreciate your valuable input. The fuel gauge (needle) is found steady with its indicating performance. However the electronic display is "all-over". When I fill the tank completely, the electronic display indicates somewhere close to 425 miles range for complete gas consumption! However, the reading steadily goes down to almost 275 miles range within the next 50 miles or so. The needle during this time is steady at full-tank level. The electronic display once it gets to around 275 miles starts going up to 300-325! Have you noticed this phenomenon with yours? Appreciate your feedback please.

I have noticed fluctuations after initially filling the tank, as the car calibrates its average miles per gallon after starting. After the average mileage settles down so does the fuel range.

When I go on a road trip, after each fill, the range is on the lower end for the first few miles. Once up to interstate speed for a constant bit, it quickly adjusts up. Basically, to me it seems that the range calc is short cycled by how much fuel you are using at a given time. When I am intown, driving like I'm being chased, it drops way down. 3 mins later when I restart it after running into the office, it is back up again. I think it is more of a snapshot given the exact current burn rate with frequent adjustments.
