The 03 cd based 16:9 TV use the old style d2b bus and therefore works.
I understood that it was a bit more complicated than simply changing the units over like he has shown, though, in terms of getting the steering wheel controls and tv tuners etc to work.

I have the same nav system as the later S class models, (navigation disc hunt showed me that) I use the same disc that work in a 2002 G wagon. Do you think I will still lose the buttons?

I asked about this before and a couple folks seemed to think it was a 1000 dollar upgrade, what all is involved, i'm sure its not just plug n play like the pics. But I'm really interested in doing it

Not without changing out the entire D2B fiber optics bus and all of the components it serves, and replacing them with a MOST bus and new MOST components - HU, phone, audio system, nav, voice control and the like. Such a bus changeout has been done by Sunilp in Houston - but frankly, it's cheaper to buy a newer car.
So the answer is, technically, yes. Practically - no.

As for a "step-by-step" instruction, such a guide requires a great deal of time. Believe me, I know, having written such guides in five different areas. You may have come across contributor Sunman (aka Sunilp) who has written in general terms about what is needed. However, the folks like Sunil, Steve Krabbenborg and others make their living by installing such mods. There is no good reason for them to give away their knowledge and undercut their businesses.
That said, when you get the installation figured out, we look forward to your guide, with photo documentation.
