Welcome to the forum!

There is an extensive and fairly recent string concerning this either here or on BenzWorld - but you may need to search "mileage" rather than "consumption" and then do a little conversion. Sorry, I don't have it bookmarked to give to you.

S430, SL500
Hi, Welcome

Americans tend to call petrol consumption "gas mileage", so search for that for more figures. Remember that the figures will be in US Gallons, not standard imperial Gallons.

To give you an idea, my S430 is showing 26.5MPG average over the last 2500 miles. That consists of a mix of urban and motorway usage.

It boils down to around 28-30MPG motorway (if i drive slowly on cruise control, which i always do as our speed limit is low here, 70mph/112kmh), and between 15-25MPG urban depending on traffic. 15MPG represents very bad city centre traffic, 23-25MPG is more of a country road point to point mpg.

Note that my car reads in Imperial gallons.

Yeah, my daily driver is now my W221, so the S320 lately only goes out on weekends for a good run in some hilly areas with twisty roads and ends up on a good straight stretch of road for some good speed. Its a tradition I have had going with my best friend for over a year now... he has a S320CDI and likes to pretend he can keep up :-) That and also the fact that I had to run my car on "blend" which is not unleaded for a while... There was no unleaded so Mercedes made an adjustment to change my fuel type to leaded and they told me consumption would be on the higher end which i noticed, this was only recently changed back as I was no longer getting the full 6k RPM.. I believe they limited to 5.5k or something if I remember correctly.
