Anyone w/ w220 taken out their rear seats? before?

Wondering to those that have had, hoping your car didnt have the ski bags too btw. But I am wondering if by chance you would know if the car has a precut hole right where the ski bags WOULD go? In other words does the car have a pre cut hole parallel to where the rear center armrest is? That would lead to the trunk?

My car does not have this and is just solid. on my 5 series though I didnt have the small access to the trunk for the skis as well, but the car had the area pre-punched so it was easy to remove.

Thanks to all in advance!!

Mine is fitted with the ski bag, the ski bag clips out and indeed there is a tunnel through to the boot. Useful for carrying long bits of wood etc

I was told that the gas tank is there so there is no way through.

This is corect. the fuel tank sits between the rear seat and the trunk. You can; pass anything thru there.

No it is not correct, there is (or certainly can be) a tunnel through from the boot into the rear of the car. I have used it many many times for carrying long items such as timber.

Seems rather strange that something as major as this would differ between any of the builds, perhaps this is a LWB vs SWB thing. Both our S-class' and all the others i have ever seen have been SWB.

That was pretty funny.. sadly true and most of his gripes are actually true here in the US as well.. Especially with the qality and engineering of US brand cars.
Complete throw aways.

This is why I dont complain too much about the small things about my benz.. I spend waaay to much time in domestic rentals to have a single complaint about my car.

This is funny to me but so true. The US makes crappy cars. I've had 12 cars in the last 4 yrs. Every american car i've owned has been crap and the fit and finish is cheap. If I see another fake bently 300C I will puke I can't take it anymore. They are flooding the market like Ford did with the Explore in the late 90s and wonder why they lose over 40% of resale value in the first yr.

But then again, our Mercedes have transmissions that have been made by Chrysler for several years now.

In my car there´s a small refrigerator put in between the seat and the trunk instead of a skisack. Can be dismounted if wanted but I prefer to keep a cool beer in there for emergencies ... Maxed out euro-version s500-01.

What kind of emergencies are we talking about? Car goes on fire, you quickly grab a beer and drink it as the Benz burns the ground?

While you gentlmen are talking about rear seat, I have one quick question. I have a US 2005 S500 4 matic, I usually only have 4 people in the car, 2 front and 2 back, the other day the first time since I owned the car, I have 3 people in the back, but I can't find the middle seat belt latch, I have the belt but no latch, I look for it every where short of pulling the seat out. Any suggestion? Thank you in advance.

Its probably under the rear seat. Somebody probably took the seat cushion out at some point, and never bothered to pull the third buckle out before reinstalling the cushion.

Hello xxx.
It depends whether you have the two seat or three seat rear bench.
How many headrests can you see?

Cheers, Frank

Yes you are right, once I removed the rear seat, the third seat belt latch is right there. Thank you guys.
