HELP...s500 engine clicking.
now all of a sudden i get home and go out for a quick 0-60 run with the car. and when i stopped to check the gtime i heard alot of clicking coming from engine. Now all i hear is a very loud click click click sound. more throttle i give its worse and worse.
what is that and is that somthing serious?? and can i drive to shop or should itbe towed.
but i do drive it like i stole it. its funny though there so much clicking... maybe a screw loose in engine or the pistons or blown head gasket. but the car still has full power.
take a screwdriver or a long extension and try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.
Could be anything from a bad lash adjuster to a spun rod bearing.
The oil detergent cleaner will free any stuck valves or lifters. Once u change the oil drive it about 2 days. I did it about 15K ago, never had a problem and haven't slowed down since. Stuck lifters are a common thing. If you don't believe me go to the dealer and tell them to crank up a 2010 model (doesn't matter which V8) that has been sitting for a while, and tell me what you hear.
i hope its just the lifter... i dont feel like replaceing the engine.. even though a 5.5 upgrade would be nice.
anyways i have a tow truck on its way and its being brought to my good friends shop to be examined... will update shortly

How many miles on that car BTW? How old are you?

Think what you want i'm just giving my advice what worked for me. Its not a concoction its a way of freeing stuck lifters without having to rip the engine apart. What do you think most of these dealers/independent mb shops do. They they can charge you $800 bucks to say they changed out your lifters, and who is gonna take off their valve cover to verify that? (like you could tell)
the problem was a bad AC compressor.
as soon as my friend looked at the car he knew the problem. he took the belt off and started the car. then noise almost completely went away. the rest of te rattled ws from the ac compressor.
funny thing though is i never use ac.... prob only 3 times this year so far since i like to have windows down... weird how the part that is least used goes bad
. have you ever seen the oil at 3k... it real black... and mb wants you to change at every 10k so they can make money on you when you damage your engine., im guessing you change every 10k.. good luck with that.

Black oil is not bad oil. I can 100% guarantee that if you sent your oil to blackstone labs and had it analyzed, they would tell you that its good until 6 or 7,000 miles easily.
3,000 miles has been a myth for a long time for synthetic oils.
Not to mention the 113 is a completely non-stressed engine. It doesn't have overly high compression, it doesn't rev very high, and it makes a paltry 300bhp from 5 liters. There is absolutely zero need for 3,000 mile oil changes.
You are just wasting money.
