2000 S500 front and rear tire size question
Ok.
So my father takes his 2000 S500 to Costco to get tires put on his AMG rims.
He goes in with 270 40 18 and 245 45 18 on the rims and asks for the same...
But the guy insists that he cant put that size on the back. So I just noticed that he put 245 45 18 all around.
Deep dish rim in back and flat rim in front.
Should I leave it that way or does it affect speedo and other things?
Thanks

I should have put more detail.
The door jam calls for either 225x16 or 225x17
The 18 AMG's were purchased on ebay years ago.
So they are saying they cant warranty the staggered front/rear sizes.
::: IMPORTANT :::
Can someone tell me what Mercedes came standard with 275 40 18 and 245 45 18.
If I go back with that information then maybe the guy will correct the tire size issue in the back??
Thanks

The standard wheel size for the '00 S500 was a 16 inch wheel, and the tires would have been 225x16. They were not staggered, stock.
The AMGs altered the sizes that could be used. If the sizes used had the same rolling diameter (dependent on sidewall height), going to the 18" wheels won't alter the speedo. However, if you go with a higher sidewall (larger rolling diameter) it would alter the speedo.
There is a very good tire and wheel forum available to you - The Tire Rack's wheel & tire forum, on the main page just a bit further down from this one. I suggest you contact their tire expert with the question. I'm sure they can help. And they can recommend some good tires. I agree with Mark_K on Costco, which sells what they have in stock.

Also, the tires were not in stock they had to be special ordered. They are the Michelin Sport 400 tread.

2000 S500 front and rear tire size question
I have exact same size and tire specification on my car. They must be:
Front tire size specifications: 245 45ZR 18 96W
Rear tire size specifications: 275 40ZR 18 99Y
Rear tire width must be wider than front for better control.

I also have a 2003 S500 that came from the factory with AMG wheels and 245/45/18 tires on the front and 270/40/18 on the rear. After all these years I have never had a problem. I have Continental Extreme Contact DWS on all four corners. Previously I had the Bridgestone pole position all season tires. Both sets were recommended by Tire Rack.
