whacky instrument cluster clock display
I tried searching for clock, elapsed, cluster, etc, so I already STFF ![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
I searched the pdf versions of both the operator's manual and the COMAND manual, so I already RTMF![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
My 2004 S55 very frequently decides to display the elapsed time of a trip, rather than time. It sometimes even carries over between starts.
example:
it's 1:00 in the afternoon. I get in the car, start driving, then after a few minutes notice the time in the IC says 8:05. WTF?
example of carry-over:
The above trip continues to a store 10 minutes away, where I shop for a few minutes. Upon returning to the car, the IC displays 8:10 and continues to count the duration of the two trips combined.
I have not been able to determine a pattern as to when it decides to display elapsed time. It does not behave like it's related to NAV, because it seems independent of whether I have route active.
I have not been able to get it to go back to time from elapsed. My attempt to reset with the R button revealed the settings menu that includes dyno mode (
), but did nothing to reset the display.

your mother raised you well ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
it's a weird one, for sure. I can find no mention of elapsed trip time except in trip computer display.
If i could control it, it would be a fun feature to have ("just how bad was my damn commute his time?"), but it seems every time I look at it, I want the TIME!
