I always thought only the 2003 versions had this feature.
Well this morning when I came out of my house I see a S500 but its mirrors are closed and Im like whats going on?? That cant be me cause I NEVER fold the mirrors in...I thought about what I did last night and I sat on the phone for 20 min, then I exited and I pushed the door close key on the remote and never looked back.. Strange why it happend last night out of nowhere..a programming glitch? They wont close now when I push the button.

Perhaps you had inadvertently pushed the fold button before or as you got out of the car.

Nope, you have to hold it for our models to close. Its not one touch.

I have an 02' and mine do close when I lock the doors. it had to be programed by my dealer. i have theis feature on my dash in the convenience setting it should say auto mirror fold. but you have to make sure the little button on the door where the mirror buttons are is pushed in either the one on the right or the left try both.

I guess it had to be already activated since it folded. Damn I really want it to auto-close now and its not.

Gondon ,if you take it to Lakeview Mercedes in nassau county long island they should be able to do it for you. they did it for me I;ve been a customer for about 20 years and it was done free of charge. just ask for will jenkins he is the service manager, i'm sure he'll do it for you.

My 02 S500 began folding it's mirrors very late in life. I bought her with 70k on the clock, and after replacing a corroded, power-siphoning seat module on the driver's side, the mirrors suddenly started folding in when I lock the car. Now, the passenger's side starts later than the driver's mirror, so it ends up sticking out a bit. Any idea how to "synchronize" them?

Try folding them with the manual button, holding the button in for 3 seconds or so after both are fully folded. Then, manually unfold them, holding the button again for 3 seconds after full travel. It may or may not work, but give it a try and let us know how it works out.
