my bad.......its a 2003
also been tuned (remapped ecu) by a speed shop in the area that claims it puts about 600 hp to the wheels with just about the same tq...hd intercooler and aftermarket air intakes...
On the test drive it pulled like a locomotive until we ran out of road....I dont doubt it had 600 hp to the rear wheels...
I just read these horror stories here about the repair costs...

If you can afford to not blink when the dealer asks for $3k for abc repair work, then you should be able to handle it.
It should be pretty solid, but when it does break, prepare to bend over.

I doubt it has 600 to the wheels, mine has 500rwhp on dynojet after kleemann ecu tune and at 22.3 psi boost max. What kind of aftermarket intake and intercoolers? Pics? I would like to mod them but dont know how to do it. Not much room in there to work with.

As it has no history then keep 5K in your pocket for repairs. Mine had full service, every reciept and all mojor things recently done by main dealer (cats, ABC, 1 coil pack etc) even so I have still spent 2K (pounds) on it, other coil pack (required, missfire) and a full suspenstion joint overhaul/replacent (my choice, I am a picky SOB and wanted the ride like it just rolled off the production line)

I would say that 28k is on the high side unless it has all options and is in mint condition. If it does not have the amg sport package it is way 2 high for the going rate these days.
Also this link I posted above will sell you a warrantee for the car. I would print the warrantee inspection form and have the car inspected by Mercedes or the dealers designated euro shop that does a pre-buyers inspection. If the car passes for the warrantee then work on the price negotiations. If it does not pass and cannot get the warrantee then run from it.
These cars are being sold at auto auctions for 17k-23k

Thanks for the help gents. After reading all about the S600's and the maint costs i've decided to get a less complicated newer model...maybe a 05 S500.....
