so the lights were left on last night and the car is completely dead. the key wont even fit into the key hole and there is no way to get the trunk open to access the battery.
we even tried to use the metal key in the trunk. but no good

what can we do , please help

Don't know why the metal key won't work.
This is just a thought and I have not tried this on my car.
This is just a guess......proceed at your own risk.
Open the hood
Find where the battery connects under there? You should be able to use the starter cable.
Connect a jump pack to it to get power to the car and then use your remote or maybe start the car then use the trunk switch.

I also found this. Don't know if it will help.
"you have whats called a left and right fron sam in that car remove your right front sam its in the right front control unit box *** you pull it up there is a rather thick red wire you need to jump 12 volts from a auxillary battery to this big wire remember to jump ground from the battery to your car also this will back feed voltage to your pse then just use your trunk release button to pop the trunk"

The metal key should open the trunk, insert and turn 90 degrees counter clockwise. I have the same thing, weak battery and had to jump start it yesterday.

If you pull back the carpet on the passenger front, and remove the metal plate(3 10mm plastic nuts) you'll see a big red cable connecting to the pre-fuse box, apply 12 volts and hit the trunk release...DO NOT TRY TO JUMPSTART FROM THAT POST!!!
