Hello all- I've been a pretty loyal W210 guy for a couple of years, but today I took the plunge and bought an absolutely gorgeous 2001 S430, with one owner (carfaxed), all dealer service records with only 74,000 miles!

She looks and drives like new, but I'm looking forward to fixing some broken stuff, too!

Welcome to the W220 club!

You don't see many W220s in that colour (Barolo Red?) so you've got a fairly unusual machine there.

 

Titanite Red- code 567. Actually extremely rare, and I think I looks pretty neat with the wannabe AMG package (delivery code 772). She really drives so much nicer than the w220- silent, but still the sound and feel of glorious teutonic machinery!

 

...whoops... much better than the W210! errrrrr... yeah. Sorry!

I'm curious. Why didn't you decide to opt for the facelifted version of the S?

 

Chris: I guess I can be happy for you. I too have a S430 Black. She is a beauty. I have never seen that color scheme for a S430 in my neck of the woods.

 

Thanks guys. As far as not going with an '03 and up, I really didn't even concern myself with that- I looked at about 10 cars, from a primarily mechanical standpoint, and then, when faced with this machine at 70K and the color I had to grab it! This car was special ordered, and picked up in Germany as part of the Mercedes program. What really sold me was the sport package, which is very rare on '430s (18" monoblocks, front, rear and side skirts), the color and the fact that every service has been done and documented by one owner.
