I am looking for advice on how to care and maintain my 1999 W220
I am looking for advice on how to care and maintain my 1999 W220 with almost 190 000km, particularly looking after the engine, electronic parts, airmatic suspension. Roads in South Africa are generally bad so I drive on dirt roads nor and then. The climate control, door switches and light bulbs mulfunction now and then.

Being that you drive on dirt roads and there is a lot of dust, I would always check and change the engine air filters, and the climate control dust filters that may become dirtier sooner due to your location.
Follow the maintenance in the service book too - oil changes, spark plugs, filters, and fluid flushes are important, especially going on into higher miles. I have 200,000km (124,000 miles) on my S55 so it can go well with good maintenance!

As for interior and exterior care, there is a forum for just that, just a little further down the main discussion forums page. You might also get good information on the "Start Here" sticky at the top of the W220 forum.

Thats actually pretty heartening to hear about a 1999 W220 soldiering on like that! Dirt roads? Bumps? Dust? Possible collisions with wildebeasts? I am newly reassured of the bulletproof core of the W220!

Oh- well, in a nutshell, keep those fluids clean, keep MB fluid in the tranny (I KNOW you changed it, right?) and show that girl some love!
