A Mercedes obviously!
It's a good job Mercedes Roadside Assistance is free...

Twice this WEEK I've left the lights on and had the battery go flat

Never left the lights on on a car before and lightning strikes twice. I think I'd notice it more if the 'Key Don't Forget' thing didn't bong at me every time so I don't zone out and ignore the 'Switch Off Lights'.

I would (should) put it on Auto but find learning to drive in Europe I was told to always have the lights on and the tolerances of the Auto setting are a bit slack for my liking.

Those are my excuses and I'm sticking to them.

so this begs the all importqnt question... how does MB roadside assistance "jump" these cars? Do they use jumper cables, a portable jumpstart pack, a new battery, ????

They must know the safest way to jump these cars w/o causing damage

Set the headlights up in constant in the instrument panel and the headlight switch to auto, then you don't have to worry about turning headlights off.

The first time around my wife was there (I had to and I believe the guy from the MB dealer used the portable jumpstart pack.

I was there yesterday and the guy tried to portable jumpstart pack but it wasn't powerful enough so we used cables. He was from a 3rd party company as the nearest dealer was more than 30 miles away. Apparently the dealer will go as far as 60 miles but I guess they use some third parties to get the job done quicker. The guy seemed to know what he was doing although the Civic we jumped it from almost conked out when I fired up my car

Constant in the instrument panel? When I get down to my car I'll probably realise thats a dumb thing to ask but is that in the Multi Function Display?

Go to the settings menu and go to lighting, then you should find it somewhere in there. You're from New England so I doubt you have a different menu lol
