Does the S55 AMG or all the AMG cars have an upgraded brake package?

S55 has the same brakes as the rest of the S line-up. Cross drilled and vented front, vented rear and Brembo's all round.

I don't think that any Mercedes comes stock with Brembo Brakes. While Mercedes has been adding slotted/drilled rotors to their S/SL/CL models lately, I have yet to see one with a Brembo kit.

According to the MBUSA webpage, they state the following for the S and CL-Class :

Brakes Dual-circuit power-assisted 4-wheel discs. Cross-drilled and internally ventilated front discs with 4-piston Brembo fixed-type calipers. Internally ventilated rear discs with dual-piston sliding calipers.

Now.. what does "Brembo fixed-type calipers mean" ?

Are they Brembo made ? Are they a Brembo knock-off ? What the heck does this mean !?!?!?!

I was actually looking for something like that on their website, and couldn't find anything, which led me to believe that they weren't Brembo's (also based on vague images of the calipers). If Mercedes states that they are Brembo's, than I'm sure that they are Brembo's. So I stand corrected.

As for "fixed-type" caliper... Some calipers are floating calipers, some are fixed...

A fixed caliper is secured rigidly to the axle assembly and has at least two opposing pistons that force the pads against the disc. A sliding or floating caliper has pistons on only one side of the disc. Therefore, when the caliper acts, it must slide or float in order to bring the pad on the opposite side in contact with the disc. Nearly all original equipment calipers are of the floating type. In a system with fixed calipers, not only is the mounting much more rigid, but the stiffness of the caliper itself is greatly increased. This manifests itself in enhanced braking performance, pedal feel, and pad wear
