My 2003s430 has stalled a few times in the past week while at idle at a traffic light. It starts right back up with no problem. During regular driving there is no problem whatsoever. Any ideas on where I should begin to locate the reason for this? Thanks.

Does the Check Engine light come on? Could be the Air Mass Sensor, try cleaning it.

Air Mass Sensor is a good functional description, but the part is called the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor - in case he needs to find one.

The check engine light does not come on. Prior to the stall it runs rough for a couple of seconds and then peters out. All other times though the engine runs smooth. Thanks guys.

This is a known and common issue, and depending on the mileage or your car a good preventive (or in some cases overdue) DIY task. The part is about 40-50 bucks (autohausaz.com) It's on the driver's side on the back of the engine, and takes about 30-45 mins to replace with a e8 external torx socket, with a 1/4" drive w/12" extension.
