RIP 2000 Mercedes-Benz S430 - September 29th, 1999 to July 5th, 2010

While my family and I were on vacation, apparently 5AM on the same day we were going to arrive home, someone had crashed into our first Mercedes in the driveway at high speed totaling both cars involved in the crash. Thankfully, everyone was not hurt and now we have not just a couple cars to take care of, but the front yards of three houses. Investigation is now taking place and surprisingly the driver who crashed walked away.

When I arrived home I absolutely lost it, considering all of the memories I had from it with many trips and experiences the S-Class has given me. From the looks, it looks like damage is about 15-20K (that's what I've been hearing from here - I have to wait for the insurance to see what happens) and it looks like the car will be announced totaled. I don't know about what car will replace it, but I believe it will be an SUV since we need some extra room...poor Mercedes.

The car lived a hero...and unfortunately it was killed during rest with 75,000 miles. Funny enough, its A Service and brake change was scheduled the day after hehe..

Holy ****

someone will cut the rear clip off your car, paste a new rear clip from a frontend damaged car and be good to go.

Id recommend buying the salvage car from your insurance company and putting it on ebay, you can usually buy it out for $500 or so, Id imagine youll get 3-4k on ebay.

Dayum!! My car just got rear ended too!! i can imagine how you feel :( got home and it was all messed up! Hope all goes well with you tho!

I'm beginning to think the bad luck you guys are having will rub off on me! Seems every W220 on here is being rear ended or T-boned at the moment!

What was the deal with the driver? Drunk?

He fell asleep at the wheel around 5AM...I'm guessing it's from working three jobs.

i feel your pain man! sorry! Too bad it's not a 2004, i could use a front clip! haha
it's one thing to wreck it yourself... but when someone else smashes your ride and you have no control over it... ugh! the frustration! good luck with your next ride!

I just started up earlier tonight to see what was broken and what wasn't just in case the insurance guy misses it. If you're wondering, this is what I believe is damanged:

SAM Module (Lights do not flash when locked)
Amplifier
AirMatic Strut (left rear)
Full rear end (left rear, rear, right rear)
- bent chassis
- left rear tail light
- Parktronic, etc.
Left door stuck

I'll keep you guys updated on what is happening...

tusabes 07-09-2010 10:35 AM

they are going to total it anyway, no need to see whats broken/what needs fixing

Yep it is definitely at this point lmao...I still can't believe this happened though lol

The insurance guy came today and he was like, "YOU AGAIN?!?!" For some reason, this car keeps getting into accidents that were caused by someone else.

One time was when a guy sudden made an illegal u-turn and we crashed into him, sending him into a tree.
Then the next month, a big canvas covers gets blown by the wind and hits our rear door, three days after we got it out of the body shop.
After that, there was a lady who t-bones the front left door and then comes out crying, "Look what you've done to my car!", even when it was her fault!
Then there was this, when it was crashed into when parked in the driveway at 5AM

Is this car cursed lol?

Gondon 07-09-2010 06:47 PM

Yea better upgrade her with a 600 lol

BlackCherryS 07-12-2010 12:19 AM

Yeah I just had a recent accident myself, someone rear-ended me while I was waiting for someone to make a turn and holy moly did that hurt, felt like a bus instead of a SUV hit me but I'm still here! My car maybe totalled as well and I must say I'm sad to see it go but kay sera sera! Maybe I'll get a 600 this time!!!

shellshock 07-15-2010 05:52 PM

Yes, they are going to total :(

Buy it back man and part it out on here! You'd make your money back quick!

Are you sure? The insurance company offered $18,300 and we're still negeotiating to get the most out of the car... We might take a couple stuff out like the spare tire and tool kit, but I think somewhere around that price range is good enough :D

Yeah they totalled it out but I bought it back, the damages is not that bad. Trunk, bumper cover, reinforcement, and left and right tail lights.

What? So they totaled it and offered you a check for 18.5k? Take it lol. The car is worth 10k.

Well if there's a good advantage, use all of it lol

BlackCherryS 07-15-2010 10:14 PM

yes take the 18k, but also ask if you can buy the salvaged car.... usually they will sell it back to you as a salvaged total loss car for $500-1000.

And then you can part it out for far more, or ebay it.

Parting out is a good thing if you have a lot of room for a broken car...but our driveway can only fit two cars and now with this broken thing in the way there is barely any room at all!

shellshock 07-17-2010 08:44 PM

Yeah! I need both A pillar covers inside if they are in good shape and the correct color, haha.

CarboyS 07-20-2010 05:49 PM

The car got towed away today! Final deal was $19,000 flat and apparently it's somehow partially driveable!

eddies55 07-21-2010 04:16 PM

That's a good deal for a 2000 with 75k miles...sorry for the inconvenience...
