for a bout a week we have had a difficult time shifting our s55amg 2003 into gear. today we recieved a malfunction message with esp abs and bas and presafe inactive see operation manual. Any ideas what is going on. We just went to put in gear and it shifted like normal with no malfunctions Thanks don and lori

 

Some people with more knowledge might be able to chime in but possibly battery, don't know why that would affect the gear shifting though. When the battery has been disconected sometimes the esp abs and bas errors come on. Try the resets with the steering wheel, you can find the info in the encyclopedia.

try resetting the ESP and stuff by turning the wheel all the way full lock to the left, then to the right.

Sounds like your battery is going though. How old is it?
