I have a 2001 s500 that I am being told the power amp is going out. The radio will play for about 2 minutes then will shut down for 10 seconds then play again. Any suggestions on where to get this repaired or replaced other than the dealer?

Hopefully I can help you out, I had the same problem in my 2004 S430 the amp would send volume screaming high then radio dies. Try this place out they are very good with amplifier repairs. Since you have a 2001 they should be able to fix yours. They can not repair any after 2004 due to MB changing the fiber optic format so they couldn't fix mine. I had to get a re-manufactured one from the dealer $1000. But call them and make sure before you send it to them, here is the website.

hi the s 220 01 has d2b the 220 04 most system , on the 2001 220, when there is voice mail on the v60 phone ,it will mute the radio for few second with out a warning on the comand , when this happens ck if u can operated the cd changer
