Finally installed the Sprint Booster to my S600

After collecting information on Sprint Booster from different sources for about three weeks , I decided to install the Sprint Booster on my 2002 model S600

Thanks to both Tusabes and Corsa 9000 who helped me in making the decision.

I must say that I am very happy that I installed it. For the first time since I started driving this car, I am satisfied with the timely down shift and the related power and acceleration the V12 gives me when I step on the accelerator only one third of the way. Previously, I needed to floor the accelerator or manually downshift and step hard on it in order to obtain the same acceleration. I am fully aware that the booster does not add any additional power to my V12 but it compansates for the modest/solemn behaviour of the S600. The Booster made me aware that I am driving a V12

The installation took only 10 minutes, and had I known how easy it was to install it, I would have done the installation my self. So if you ever decide on installing one and you are a bit of a mechanic, I sugget you do it yourself. I can help you with the procedure.

Being a mechanical engineer myself, I can easily say that one can obtain the same performance on any w220 engine. This is because all W220s are driven by "drive by wire" system whereby the accelerator paddle is not directly hooked up to the throttle valve, but instead, the paddle is hooked up to a simple potentiometer which measures the amount of "paddle angle" the driver exerts to the accelerator and then transforms it into electrical signals. However these signals pass thru an electronic filter which slows down the drivers paddle behaviour and hence gives the car a smoother drive.

The booster gets rid of the electronic filter (not exactly but this is the simplest way to explain) and the accelerator paddle becomes much more sensitive to the drivers actions.
I am not trying to adiertise any of these equipment but there are plenty on the net that you can choose from. They all do the same and what I experienced is that installing one will give you the spotry feeling you would enjoy getting from your W220

The next step for me is to reset and manually program the adaptive shifting. However the city driving may mess up the manual programming that I will do.

Enjoy the new drive
