new key problems

new key problems
so my key starts malfuntioning eventually breaking it unlocks but doesnt start i know its the key cuz somtin broke inside.(i took it apart) neway i tow to the dealer they order a new key. when it arrives it only lets the lights go off wouldnt even unlock the car. they said leave it in the ignition for a while to recognize the key so sure enough it worked. the car starts but of course another problem pops up now it doesnt shift into drive. it was perfect before this new key b.s. can neone help?

after reading many forums i see this is a common problem and if it is the little plastic piece i will take it out, but my question is what are the freakin odds of it jus doin that all the sudden only with the new key.
