2000 mb 500s

air supension problem. 2000 500s 155,000 miles. front down will pump up
when started. then overnight both front and back dropped. pumped up after
start. i have taken to mechanic ex mb dealer fellow seems good. he tells me
after discussion with dealer . and after sitting at his shop over weekend it
will not drop if i don't lock door and at his shop it hasn't . what does the
locking door have to do with front end? option replace pump and some other
parts fuse as new mb pump needs some add on parts. does this sound right.

Welcome to the forum.
Locking the door has NOTHING to do with the front end or the Airmatic system.
You may have a small leak in your system, coupled with an intermittent airmatic relay. If the relay does not work, the car does not make up for the leak and it drops. When the relay works the car keeps up with the leak.
That is my best guess, over the internet and with no diagnostic equipment.
