2000 s500 alarm problems

2000 s500 alarm problems
noticed today that the panic button on my remote doesnt work ... so i sat in the car locked the doors and noticed the red led doesnt blink on the lock button in the car no more either , so while the car was locked i tried openin the doors from the inside to set the alarm off and again no noise . what could be the issue the alarm used to work now no led ,no panic and no noise when i lock the car and open it from the inside ...n e help?

May not be exactly the same but may give you some more info.
On my CLK the alarm was acting up in strange ways, and then stopped working all together.
My guy at the dealer told me the alarm sensor/ball went bad.
so that may be something to look in to.
