CD Player skips, is this normal>

I have a 2001 S55. Over bumps and rough road, the CD changer in the truck will skip a good deal, depending how bad the road is. On smooth roads, it is OK.

Is this normal? Is there some anti-skip protection in this CD player? Is it possible it is loose in there? Any ideas?

Thanks!

There is anti-skip protection, and the switch that provides it may be mis-set. See http://phdwebsite.powerpulse.cc/Phon.../S%2002-01.pdf especially section B of the CDC installation instructions. Unfortunately the switch isn't pictured, but it should be set to "V" (vertical).

Thanks for that information - I took a look, but I could not see anything without removing the CD player. I assume that I need to take the entire unit out, correct?

Also, where is the switch located? On the bottom of the CD player? Thanks!

You will need to remove the CDC. You'll see the switch, it's the only one on the chassis.
