CD Player starts at CD1 Track1 after ignition off

My sound system has been fairly reliable since I got this car 1.5 years ago. Now, every time I shut the car off, then turn it back on, the music starts at CD1, Track1 (no matter what CD or track I was on before I shut the car off).

Is this a known issue? Signs of a CD changer going out?

Also (semi unrelated) - While researching this issue I noticed ~2004 model S classes support MP3's? Could I install a 2004 CD changer to play mp3's, or would i need changer + head unit from a 2004?

I have seen others report the same problem, but I don't have the posts bookmarked, and I don't recall the solution. Have you checked the settings for the CD in the Audio portion of your COMAND?

Your car has a D2B fiber optic system; '04 and later have MOST systems. Equipment for one is not compatible with the other.

If your CDC is going out, you might want to check out the flash drive units such as the unit at http://www.mercedes-player.com/epage...jectID=1489801 - it is for D2B systems. You replace the existing CDC with it.

@skylaw - thank you! the flash based solution is the best i've seen yet for mp3's.

to all others - i found out if i powered down the stereo before shutting the car off, the problem would not occur. after doing this a few times, the problem went away (not sure if it needed a power cycle, or what).

oh well, hopefully the issue doesn't return :/
