Trunk spring broke

Hi

One of the trunk springs broke on my car. Has this happened to anyone else?

Called Mercedes and pointed them to a recall and they said the car fell outside of the recall.

They wanted to charge over $1000 to replace it.

Is this part fixable by myself? And where is the best place to go about ordering parts?

It seems as simple as remove broken spring and attaching new one. Just not sure if I'll be able to stretch the spring enough to reach.

Thanks

2000 S430 140k (07/11)
For 220.170 the spring part number is 2207570129.
Parts.com has it for $15.52, should be pretty easy to replace.

do you have an image of this part? i just want to make sure that this is the spring that resides in the rain valley on both sides of the trunk.

and what is remote locking? because the parts says with or without.

thanks for your help
