does the navi play cd's?

does the navi play cd's?
ive had my 2000 s500 for about 2 months now. and the slot in the dash were the navigation cd goes. it doesnt play cd's i just figured that thats the way it is supposed to be but thats pretty stupid. is anyones navigation able to play regular music cd's?

I use the same navigation map software in my S-Class, but with the TravelPilot, also made by Blaupunkt. The difference is that the TravelPilot uses a completely digital receiver instead of the analog receiver MB selected for the COMAND. The digital receiver interfaces to the CD such that it can also play audio but unfortunately this is not possible with the analog receiver. Just use a fiberoptic changer.

2004 S500 & 2011 Mini JCW
FYI, in the 04 or newer S classe the Nav. DVD does not play a consumer DVD. The actual head unit does, however the USA command only lists the chapters no picture and no code to activate any video.
