Arrow Manual Shifting...

Can you manually shift an 05 S600?
My gear shift lever shows a D+ and D- but the owner's manual states this feature is only for an S55...
Thanks for weighing in.

Yes, once in "D" just tap shift lever right or left to change gears up or down. This may work only when sport mode is selected (the button on the left side of the shifter surround) but I'm not sure, it might work in all modes.

I cannot speak to the S600, but the feature worked in my '00 S500 and works in my '05 S500. It is not an S55-only feature. The reference may be to the shift paddles on the steering wheel of the S55; the other models use the shift lever.

Thank you guys.
For some reason it will not let me shift on the fly. But when I started the vehicle this afternoon, I could see the gears moving as I tapped the shift knob left and right.
Just need to do some more experimenting.....

You should be able to do it. From 1st, the car pulls a bit stronger I feel than when it is just in drive. Gives it a rough, awake type of feeling. You can hit the limiter to just remember to shift! (at least in my S55 that's how it is)

It works fine on my car and I only drive in the C mode. so it should work on yours in any mode.

The slow response and computer-overrides are some of the issues we address with our TCU software upgrade, which gives you a more "true" manual mode.
