Stuck in park! Not anymore!!

So my s430 got stuck in park at aaa of all places so I had it towed hom and learned on here that it's a 50 cent plastic lever that breaks inside the shifter, it took me about 2 hours to get the shifter out and once I got the part off eBay, it took me about the same to get it all back together, I just wanted to say haw weird it was that the entire shifter is made of all metal but that one thing is made of cheap plastic! Anyways if you need help with this or anything let me know...

A Mercedes obviously!
This is a very common W220 problem. Some remedy it by not replacing the broken plastic part with another one...

I actually thought about that but I didn't want it to be able to shift without the brake being pressed, Iean if I didn't have the money I probably would have done the but I was trying to keep the car the way it was when I bought it, idk but it works great now

2003 S430
it happened to me about 2 months ago.. i took the plastic out.. i have no kids playing around in the car so i wont be worried about it. plus thought about it and it could break again in the future and have the same problem stuck somewhere in a parking lot calling a tow truck
but congratz on fixing it, nothing feels better than knowing you fixed a problem your self in a car and saved lots of $$$

I bought two plastic pieces that will fix the shifter issue! If anyone needs one, I am willing to sell one of them! PM me!
