2003 S430 Sport
Wnter Tires

Just bought a 2003 S430 Sport in Florida with 36K miles and drove it up to Minnesota. Has Pilot summer tires on it and now rides like an elephant on skates. Need to get snow tires asap. The car came with amg rims with 245/40/18 on fronts and 265/40/18 on rear. What I have read is that I need to go with a more narrow tire e.g 225 and my question is can I move to a 225/50/18 on all 4 tires for winter package or do I need to go with off-sets as I have on summer kit. Looks like the best options for winter tires are the Michelin Pilot Alpin SA3 or the Michelin X-Ice Xi-2. Any thoughts outr there on either one of these packages or the issue to moving to a single size for winter?
I am also trying to figure out if i have TPMS system in tires. How do you tell as i had a flat tire with no warnings going off.

buy a beater car to drive on bad weather days and slide into snowdrifts with your only concern being to not spill this great cup of coffee!. your MB will look pretty strange with 225's all the way around. allso MB's typically dont like road salt.
