Air suspension

Hi i have a s350 from 2004 and i have a guestion.

Is it possible to replace an airmatic suspension by a normal suspension?
If it is possible are there any suggestions about which one?

I am asking this because i like to drive a S class but it is a very expensive joke if the airmatic is broken.

what the hell is the appeal here?

You are going to pay $1300 plus installation to replace a functioning airmatic system.

Based on percentages, only the front airmatic struts are problematic. They are about $800 for the pair. on average they last what? 60k? 70k? miles. Not to mention these are improved versions.

So basically you are giving up the ride comfort adjustment and the height adjustment for a system of regular struts that will still wear out, and may not have the same ride comfort.

Is it because you are scared of a sudden failure?

If you are even remotely involved, and don't ignore warning signs because you are afraid of the cost, the chances are miniscule that you will have a sudden failure.

I'm sure the arnott product will be a good one, but with their reman struts, airmatic is a nonissue to me.

Its what...$2000 to replace the struts and compressor? Thats completely in line for a suspension replacement in a higher end car.

Yes even the entry level Bilstin pss10 are around 2k. True jrz or morons cost much more than 2k.

I don't see the issue with it either. 2.5k at most including a new valve block.
