2000 Mercedes S500
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I am purchasing a 2000 S500 and it has some options which I didn't bother to play with. Such as power trunk closer. Does this mean I can hit a button and watch the trunk open and hit the same button to make it close? (Like the new Navigator) I know the doors and trunk shut on their own rather than requiring them to be slammed shut. Also, the car has "Adjustable suspension and airmatic ride height. Does this mean I can adjust the height of my car from a button within the car, or manually? And if so, does anyone know the differences between the each level? (As far as height difference and ride quality) I appreciate anyone's knowledge to these options. Thanks.

I have a silver 2000 S500. The auto trunk closer is just like your doors: push it closed til it latches, and it does the rest.
The ride height button raises the car 1" or so I think for clearence, probably doesn't look that good.
BTW, the car automatically lowers 3/4" at high speeds (80+mph) from the normal ride heighth.
Congradulations and enjoy the car!

For the S class, you have 2 air suspension options:
1) Standard Airmatic functions. This is not an "active" suspension. You can raise the car approximately 1". You also have 3 comfort settings
2) ABC Option. This is the active suspension found on CL's and SL's. There are 2 options to raise the car. It is approximately .5" and 1". You also have a "sport" comfort setting.

Thanks. I don't believe I have ABC. Just Airmatic. But I'm still quite happy with the car! The only thing that irritates me is some minor scrapes on the rear apron. I was thinking about buying a brilliant silver rear bumper off another s class and replacing it with the current one. Unless I find a good deal on some kind of body kit where I'd just store the stock bumpers and side skirts until I feel like I want to sell the car.

Jl, Shaggy's car is a 2000, so I think there are only 2 ride comfort options and no ABC available.
I wish I had 3 ride options! Let me know if I'm wrong.

Hmm, I'm not sure whether or not ABC was available in MY2000 cars. I know it was standard on MY2000 CL's however
There are 3 modes!
There should be 2 lights on the button. First setting is no lights, second setting is one light, third setting is two lights.

If it does have the auto track closing feature, you are are correct in your thinking. Hit a button and it will fully swing open by itself. Hit the button again and it will fuully close by itself.

Hrm I just checked Ebay and you're right. On MY 2000 S classes, the airmatic layout was different. There were 3 height settings and only 2 comfort settings. I wonder why they made the change on the airmatic, but not the SL.
