Intermitent starting problems W220 S500L (2001)
Hi All
I've just joined the Forum and am looking for some help. I bought an S500L about 2 months ago (2001 car) and all has been fine until recently. Twice in the past two weeks I unlock the car, insert the 'key' and twist but do not go! The engine turns over but it does not fire up.
The first time I called a breakdown company and after about 30 minutes the technician concluded it was a bad earth to he fuel pump, he earthed it and Hey Presto the car started. He would not do a permanent repair as that 'was not his job' so took he car to my local (non MB) garage and they ran an earth to he fuel pump and all seemed fine for a few hours.
Then last night the same thing happenened again, the car turns over but will not start. It was a hot day so I left the car for an hour and came back in the early eve when it was a little cooler and she started fine.
Has anyone else had this problem? The car drives fine when she has started but it makes me nervous that she will let me down when I have to get somewhere on time!
I've changed the batteries in the remote as I heard that sometimes when they are weak they do not dis-arm the immobiliser, but that has not cured the problem.
Help!!!!
Many thanks
