Sometimes I forget...
Just took a 200 mile drive to philly and back.
Its just so effortless. 22.6 mpg (500 4matic), smooth, quiet, and comfortable.
I don't think you could find a more perfect highway cruiser.

Trip computer reckoned I was doing 22.7mpg at a steady 75-80mph...I calculated it at more like 20.8mph when I filled up, having brimmed it and then driven it to empty without stopping. Not very often I end up doing that! My furthest drive ever to then was about 240miles!
I'm thinking about getting a W221 though... I don't know why. Should...stop...obsessing...

I did have a few things in my favour; no traffic so holding a steady 75mph or so was effortless, I was the only person in the car, basically no elevation changes and I didn't need the AC on. I also have very little in my trunk...a quart of Mobil 1, an umbrella (shoot me, I'm British!) and a very light icescraper for the winter months. Obviously before a long journey I double checked the tyre pressures.
What's interesting is the NA V12s from '01 and '02 were chipped to turn off some of the cylinders at cruise. Would be interested to know what one of those gets on long journeys. Though given their reliability it's probably more like they'd only reach the end of the driveway before breaking down

Ditch the Audi!Nice vid. LOL

I'm fairly certain it's still over-egging the actual mpg, to be determined when I fill up today.
After observing for a while during prior visits, I finally asked one of the local taxi driver what the rule was. He explained that on red lights where you're trying to make a right turn, stopping is optional - unless there's RED RIGHT ARROW.
