Thinkng about trading out of my 02 Sport
My dealer is willing to give me 20K for my Black Sport 2002 with 42K miles. It is a very pristine car. Car runs great now, but I know the problems will be coming and I am worried about pouring money into this thing.
I was actually entertaining the idea of going into a C Class with Sport package. It gets a little better gas mileage and since it is Certified I would have warranty till 2015. I know many will say there is no comparison between a C and the older S. But with P2 package I get most of the equipment I have now and actually a few extra things. They want $30K for hte 2009 C Class. I would simply pay the $10K difference in cash.
Do you guys think this is a fair trade amount? Or too low?
Am I insane for even thinking about "downgrading"?
Your thoughts please?

c300 or 350? If its a 300 its not a very good deal.
If you dont care about the downgrade, 4 years of warranty is worth 4-5k in my book (if you assume the S will cost about $1000/year average in repairs).
So I wouldnt pay more than $5k to get the newer car under warranty. at a $10k price difference means you better like this model more then the S

$20k sounds a very good trade in for an '02, maybe they're sweetening the trade-in to get the C Class off the books...either way it's a good opportunity to easily rid of a potential liability.
