I'm sure this has been discussed before.. I've searched, but didn't find anything, so I'm posting my question. I have a '00 S500 and I simply want to know how I can tell if I have Xenon or Halogen headlights. I'm looking to upgrade to projection headlights, so I want to make sure I buy the right ones. Again, sorry if this has been answered before.

When you turn on the lights at first do they change color and level up and down ? If so it's hid. You can also pull out a bulb and see if it's a d2r style Hid bulb

Would interested in sale your old headlights? If you do I can take it out of your right away if the price is right, mine get water in it when it rain, just PM me. Thanks.

Look on the cover of the headlight. Along the top you should see the bulb type embossed on the edge. Each bulb is printed on each section of the cover. You can get the name of the fog light, high beam, headlight etc. That's how I knew on my 2001 S500.

Plus Xenon always flash when first turned on, then get brighter after a few seconds.
