Thumbs up Cartronics service!

Hi guys!

I'm not sure about everyone else; but I've had lots of trouble looking for an ipod dock for my iphone/ipod for ages. It wasn't until I found out after literally a couple months of searching that Mercedes didn't even make an ipod dock for our car.

I was quite shocked first of all and obviously wasn't really happy.

Anywho, I saw that one of our Premium Sponsors (Cartronics) makes accessories for Mercedes so I decided to shoot them a PM. Let's just say, I literally got a reply within minutes. I called them and found out a lot of other products that they carry for our platform and I was definitely impressed.

In the end I purchased the iTronic audio. I'm sure I'll be happy with the product and if anybody is interested in a review just let me know.

But I just want to give them a shoutout because our forum sponsors deserve more recognition. So support the sponsors guys!

I can't wait to finally play music out of my iphone... Everyone who sits in my s55 always asks... "WHAT?! You don't have an AUX port in your S-CLASS?!"

Are there questions we can answer? A backup camera in these cars, simply requires our VIM, video in motion, module. It does double duty as auxiliary VIDEO inputs (2), plus a backup camera input that switches the screen automatically when the car goes in reverse. It is a plug in module, and completely reversible, if for some reason you wanted to uninstall it.
Some people never use the extra video capabilities, but they are there for video input from iPods, DVD players, even computers and xbox!!!

How does the unit interface with the command, can you please give some details. I read somewhere that some circuit board has to be installed into the command to get this to work. I was hoping its more plug & play.

It just has a T cable that plugs into the unit.
You keep the factory system (which in the MB world keeps resale (ANY aftermarket audio in a Mercedes hurts resale badly - check NADA on that) - and you get all the modern touches.
I know some prefer aftermarket, but NADA says there is a 20 - 30% hit when an aftermarket is in the car. PLUS MB corp has told dealers (and most of them abide by corporate rules) to NOT work on ANY electrical problem on a MB that has an aftermarket head unit in it.

just food for thought....

agreed, on this car you can spend thousands to upgrade, just to wind up at the same time reducing it's value by thousands too... this is one car that you really have to keep the priority as fully reversible, unless you plan on keeping it forever & resale means nothing to you...
