totaled s500
my s500 is totalled. the car has rear end damage. it was hit at 50mph by a pickup truck.
ill upload pics later
i would appreciate any advice on what to do with the car. the car is pretty much stock, engine is fine. only damage is on the rear end.
i was debating on either parting it out or just listing on ebay to get the most out of it.
what would you guys do?

thanx guys, im fine. it felt like i got hit by a giant bolder behind me. it didnt feel that bad, but definitely confused after it happened
nope no whiplash.
ya i think im going to part it out. ill start accepting offers for the parts in a few days. i just want to see if maybe i can get a good deal from the dealership or someone for it as it is.. i dont mind parting it out.

Does it still run and drive (even if only a short distance like in a parking lot)
If so put it on eBay there are body shop guys bidding who will pay top dollar , more than you can get from any dealer
You can part some things out like interior pieces too but once it's not drivable you'll get far less. - if you take out the airmatic struts motor abd tranny you won't get much for the remainder

Won't insurance replace the car's value to replace?
I have had luck showing insurance adjusters pristine cars for sale with similar mileage from cars.com or auto trader that are the highest priced and also recent GOOD photos of the car before damage.
Also if you happened to enter in any concours that helps the value received back as being a very clean car on top of the range......I also show receipts if I recently put on new tires or any expensive repairs........Kelly blue book documents if in favor, etc...
Basically I throw a lot at them hoping to get a maximum payout......
Do you figure you can get more parting out and does that involve signing a waiver with insurance company for no payment, etc.?

the car drives perfectly fine. in fact i drove it home from the repair shop which is about 20miles away. there was a little bit of vibration but it works and no errors showed in the dash. lol must have been reset.
the insurance company gave me the money for the repair which was 8k, same or close to the cars value so thats fine, the car has a clear title too. so everything is good. on that front. i think i could probably get more from parting it out. but im going to post it on ebay and set a reserve for 5k. hopefully it will sell for that. what do you guys think?
im fine guys, thanx just a bit sad that my family car is ruined.. need to replace it. maybe a new s550, down the line. if the economy gets better.

A body shop working on a car with front end damage will pay serious $$$$ for your car...you just have to find them
In today's world...these cars are worth much more parted out than they are whole and intact.
Put it on E-Bay...you will most likely get some takers there.
Glad you are OK...good thing you weren't in a Crown Vic or a Lincoln....those cars fold up like a beer can!!!

Good to hear you’re okay! That’s a pretty sturdy car to stand that kind of impact and still take you back home. Whiplash injuries often manifest much later, even years down the line and can cause you some serious pain, so be wary when you’re handle the medical aspect of your claim. Good auto insurance companies won’t stiff you when it comes to medical stuff though.

i do have the oem tail lights somewhere. i swapped those out years ago for the updated ones.

yea ur right. i revised it. to be honest all i want is 5k(which is what the reserve is set to) for the car and its gone. if anyone on the forum wants the car, i'll be willing to work out a good price with you.
