Steering noise/catch-"pop" felt turning wheel

Steering noise/catch-"pop" felt turning wheel
Searched the forums but can't find the answer to the specific problem.
My steering feels like it catches and then pops almost when I turn the wheel from left to right, just past 12 o'clock. You can feel it in the steering wheel and hear the creak/pop inside and outside the car. Power steering is working, but it definitely does not feel right and is very consistent. It also makes a older creaking noise when turned all the way to the left or right, at the full turn of the wheels. Not sure if these are related.
