ABC Front Struts with torn Rubber

After changing my tires today i looked at both struts and both of them have the rubber torn on top. The strut can move up and down about half an inch. That means i cant test for my ball joints since there is now a half inch play in the system....any idea if i can keep driving like this or do i need to address this issue immediately ?

Mercedes
You can probably get 50,000 more miles out of them...as long as they are not leaking air and dropping your car to the ground they are serviceable

I should have mentioned that i have ABC struts and not airmatic struts. The ABC was serviced 6 month ago and the pump was replaced back then...mercedes told me about bad bushings but NOTHING about the struts.

To better understand i made a pic...this is with the tire off shooting up into the wheel housing. Where the arrows are is the tear...all the way around and you can lift the whole assembly up by about half an inch. The suspension is not sagging and the ride quality is good until i hit a deep pothole.
