Need Ballast and Igniter for 2001 S600

I have been trying to find an igniter and ballast for a 2001 S600. The problem is while I am smart in many ways buying car parts isn't one of them . I would prefer to NOT have to pay for an entirely new assembly since it wouldn't match unless I bought both (not a fun prospect for the pocketbook).
Assuming you folks can point me to an OEM replacement ballast and Igniter is it even possible to change them out considering the necessity of getting the darn things out of the assembly.

Forget about going OEM when it comes to HID replacement, the price is insane

For $60 you can get a complete HID retrofit kit , for both sides. check the Group Buys forum here, hundreds of MBworld members are using them

Yes its China parts but OEM is simply outrageous when it comes to the HIDs.

Nope it isn't the lights being dim its that the low beam on the drivers side wont come on at all with a new bulb. Also checked the fuses obviously.
I have found a 2001 S600 in a yard, they are selling me a used bulb/igniter/ballast for $375 but I have a 30 day free return. That gives me 30 days to find a cheaper alternative, HOWEVER, I want an alternative that works with my cars computer, (warning indicator) and one that is compatible with the car since the only HID kits I have found say they only work if the car did not come with HID originally. And yes, I agree MB dealer trying to charge $3,000 per assembly is criminal.

I found this through the forums, it looks very tempting, however, I do not see any mention of the igniter portion which, if I read the forums correctly is responsible for turning on the bulb (my problem) and the ballast corrects a flickering problem (not applicable to me)

Okay, just spoke to the rep. They only sell conversions for cars that came with halogen standard whereas mine came with xenon HID. He believes the kit would work but it would require me to cut and splice wires....not a welcome prospect for a car that costs money just to look at it. Am I looking in the wrong place for the ballast because I cannot seem to find a vendor that sells a kit that will fix an existing HID system instead of simply upgrading a halogen system.
