Door electronics goes haywire!

Hi guys, just purchased a '99 S320.
A couple of days after I bought it i was going to lower the window, wich went fine but when I pressed up it just stopped working. Everything stopped working.

This problem comes and goes but seems like I can provoke it by driving the window up/down but sometimes it just happens by itself but when It happens NOTHING in the door is working. No mirror controls, no seat adjusting, no seat heating, no soft close, no door locks. And the lights in the door and buttons start to flicker, including the indicator light in the side mirror.

I've read on here that water can sometimes enter the DCM and cause all sorts of malfunctions, could this have happened here?
It's been raining heavily these last weeks...
And the DCM is the big black box with the seat controls right?

It's the driver side door.

1) Yes, water could have damaged the DCM; or, it might just be old.

2) Yes, the DCM is the big box with the seat controls. For replacement, see the excellent panel removal vodeos under "Body" in the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...tart-here.html

The link is not the one on mirror replacement; look just a bit further down, at "Body Panel Removal Videos" - the one on the front door panel also shows the front DCM.

Thanks, I removed it yesterday. Chucked it in the oven for an hour or so and then reinstalled it. Everything was working flawlessly, but when I started the car again today the same problems came back.
So I think its time for a new one, or a used on in working order.....

Hi again, I got hold of a used one on ebay and I got it yesterday.
Problem now is my mirror adjustments isn't working, and only the driver side window switch is working. The windows work on their respective doors but can't be operated from the driver side door.

The DCM looks the same, same connectors, but there was one digit on the partnumber that did not match the one I have.
Is that enough to make it not compatible? Or have I just bought a faulty item?

No, we don't. You didn't give us the part number of the DCM you bought; without complete information, we cannot tell.

And yes, you could have bought a defective unit.

There just isn't much way to tell on the information provided.
