you dont need cables to install thiss unit. you will have to repin the c2 plug, its on here how to do it, its easy. no you dont need the code it will work. not sure about back up on this unit, i changed my unit and am trying to ad back up. you can by updated disk make sure you get one for dx unit, as far as graffics go, the unit isnt that great with 3d. you can ad bluetooth to you system, you will have to change the psc in the trunk with the blue lable one and ad a bluetooth puck, it will work with the unit and your voice command will work the cd player. its all on here its easy.

 

and while you have the unit out, you can also ad aux input, look on here i posted how to do it. you will need speed signal converter for navi to work correctly, look up abut 4 post.

 

Hi Cartonics, I decided not to go with this possible POS from China and go another route. I am in L.A. California and I have a 2002 S430 I am told by some on this site that if I pull the 2.5 Comand unit out and put in a 2003 2.0 Comand unit it will work fine, I just need a "02 Comand 16:9 Speed Signal converter for S-Class" S430. (might you know where I can buy this?) That I do not need any programming codes from a dealership and it will work fine with the existing BOSE fiber optic AMP, 6 CDC and BOSE speakers (10 in all ) in the car including woofer & tweeters. IS this TRUE? And most of all might you know anyone in LA (I'm close to Woodland Hills CA), who can do the install for me?? I know that from TAV-TV.com that had added components to add Bluetooth & a backup camera. I just need an installer who knows what they are doing for my S430 in my area. All thoughts are welcome!

yep cartronics is gone, you can do it your self, its easy if you have the head unit, i will walk you thru it, if you want to do it one saturday. i don't know about la stereo shops but look on here lots of good post, chris the swede has the speed signal convertor for the nav to work, im still loooking for a backup camara solution, cmpro has a great write up also and go back and read all the post on this thread.

I do have a solution for you for a backup camera for S430 2002 (Comand 2.5, 2.0, etc. - 2006 systems. You might of heard of this company NAV-TV.com go to their site put in your car year & make and it will list all that can be done from them. You can even take an older system like a 2003 Comand and have it show 3D maps and current interfacing by using a GARMIN NTX54-STAND ALONE NAVIGATION allows the addition of Garmin based Navigation to any LCD monitor that will accept a RCA (COMPOSITE) or RGB input. add-on unit no cheap from them $799. Backup camera adapter for the 2003 Comand screen is at this link: http://navtv.com/product/16/mb20.html The adapter alone is $649 & their camera is $250, but you can get one on EBAY for under $30 that is for an S430 just make sure it is for the year of your car.

For me I really do need your help for the install. I had a 20 hour back surgery that I am healing from, so doing it myself, is a no go, but if I could get step by step instructions my installer said he would be happy to do it for me. I also need to know what part/for the conversion I need and the best priced places online to get them? Such as do I need a 02 Comand 16:9 Speed Signal converter for an S-Class? I have seen these for $291. Comand 2.0 Antenna since my 2002 one will not work, so for all adaptions I need to know how to install each item, and I need to know if the existing cables from the back of my 2002 unit will hookup to the 2003 unit, cable by cable instructions that specific, please? Also, what does OEM in description mean? I found several one close to where I live here is its' description: Oem Mercedes Benz GPS Navigation Unit. CD-Stereo Clean perfect working condition. Excellent exterior condition. Removed from 03 Mercedes Benz- Was packaged & stored in home closet. No problems or not refurbished like other units. No problems with screen. Will work on several different Mercedes Models like S450 (must mean S430?)- S500- S55. Please call dealership to make sure part fits your vehicle. May need to be reprogrammed by dealer. (why would it need reprogramming, I thought it doesn't need that?) Pictures are actual images of unit. I can send you pictures of this unit if you like? i know i can get from nav tv but trying no to spend a grand for now ill just have my wife look in the rear view mirror, but all you need is a command unit from an 03 (go to mercupgrades.com and the wiring diagram will be on there, you can get gps antenna on ebay 15 bucks, no programming involved, and the speed convertor form chris the sweed, look back at the start of this thread, its all on here its real easy, the dash will have to be trimned a little but its all on here, i will post mine i did tommorrow so you will see how it looks, just like factory and everything works and the aux input as well. where did you see the speed signal for 291 for a 2002 s class. you will take out 5 wires from c pins and transfer to c2 which are already there and everyting will work.

a) You can get the diagrams from the local MB dealer ...(I tried NO LUCK)
b) You also need to check the wiring for the switches on the console

Update on backup camera for 2003 comand re-pined units. If you are putting into a 2002 a 2003 comand unit and want to add a backup camera the ONLY company that has an adapter for that comand unit is called *********S. They sell it for $425 and you have to take out the comand (ONLY of it is a US model with NO TV button, on US version it is BLANK no white scribed letters on the button) on this unit is sent to them they activate that button and to see what the backup camera is seeing you have to hit that button each time when you put the car in reverse. Hit it again deactivates it. Sounds strnge, but according to them BENZ 2000-2003 did not offer backup camera features to the car until 2004, so this is as good as it can be.
