S-Class (W220) 1999-2006: S 320 CDI, S 320, S430, S 500, S 600

S500 2006 Transmission Gone :( Need Help.

S500 2006
S500 2006 Transmission Gone :( Need Help.

Hi everyone, i am very new here & just decided to post my problem to find some good advice.
I own S500 year 2006 Bought New... just over 150K, drive about 30k year.
4 days ago car started acting weird. felt sliping & jumping with some grinding noice.... on slow speed gear sliping when pushed gas car jumped.....
scan code: P0730 Fault Memory of control unit transmission.
Car has 7 Speed Transmission.....
got checked from dealer & dealer recomending NEW TRANSMISSION .

I am in NYC area if anyone can recomend some good place where i can save some money? or some good advice will be very help full.

get a used transmission out of a wrecked MB, ebay usually has them or you can find someone parting a MB out in this forum in the parting out category.

Thats what I did - $500 for trans and $350 for my indy to install. Way better than $4-8k for a rebuilt or new one.

2005 S500
Getting a used trans is a good way to save money, but be careful of the condition of it. Sometimes you may get one that works perfect, some may not and now you have two bad trans. If you do get one have it checked out before installation. Removing trans oil pan and check to see what may be in the oil pan, (a lot of metal shavings etc). You do not want to have to pay for installation and removal several times. The 7 speed does not carry a dip stick so some people with oil leaks keep driving until the trans is about to go bad and sell them. Hope you get everything fixed and working again
