Easy question... In a W220, if you leave the headlights on after turning off the ignition and opening the door, does a warning buzzer go off, warning that the lights are on?

My '96 SL600 exhibits this feature, but my '05 S55 does not. Unfortunately, I have owned the S55 for only ~6 months so I am not sure if the car is supposed to 'warn me' or not. Or if something is broken. I do get the incessant and annoying don’t-forget-your-key ding-dong Keyless Feature, but no headlight warning buzzer or indication. You'd think in a car of this stature that they would not skimp on a buzzer, but then it didn't come with an oil dipstick, either. Maybe that’s why there’s such a hefty battery in the trunk... for when you leave the lights on!

I think many original owners have this feature turned off through STAR. When I originally purchased my 05 S600, there was no chiming noise when I opened the door, but since a reset for an SRS sensor replacement, I now have the chime back......which I absolutely hate. It is also there when the headlights are on and key is out.
Was this chiming noise the one you were referring to?

My guess is that you can have it turned it back on....but be warned, it terribly annoying. Just leave your light switch on "auto".

Thanks for the responses. Never thought that the 'headlights on' chiming tone could be turned off through STAR; will check that out.
